Give it a Quarter Turn

I remember seeing a lady on The Wisdom Channel, back when I lived in Dallas, I’m sorry I can’t remember her name.  I do remember what she had to say.

It was this.  “Give it a Quarter Turn”.  She was talking about looking at things in a new way.  She was saying that when life handed her something that didn’t feel or seem like something she wanted she would ‘give it a quarter turn’, or look at it from a different perspective.

I love this idea!  When we apply it to those things in our lives that don’t make sense or that we really wish would not be; we can find a way to see that same circumstance in a way that feels better and gives us hope.

My cat Joey is almost 2 now, when he was only 6 months old he broke his leg.  I felt so bad for him and we spent a lot of money getting it fixed.  I decided to look past what was before my eyes to what Life was telling me with all of this.

I soon came to understand that Joey didn’t really mind that his leg was broken.  When it happened he didn’t event slow down, he just kind of drug it behind him.  And when he was healing after surgery he had the same desire to play and eat and run and jump.  He wasn’t stopped by any of it.  He was still the same as always, only with a little leg problem.

What I’m saying is that by giving it a quarter turn I realized he and his broken leg was then and continues to be a beautiful gift to me, for in it I saw an example of a way of being that knows this…no matter what happens, all is well.  Joey knew it and his presence in our lives reminds me constantly that all is well, no matter what!

What ever is happening in your life today, right now, give it a quarter turn and find something of value in it, for you.  Life brings to us every clue, every sign and every gift that we need, in the moment, all for our benefit.  We just need to look for it.  You can trust life!

May you know the joy that comes with the understanding that you are valuable and loved and supported by this life, and that all is well, no matter what!

Hi! I completely agree with you. One of the ways I approach life is the one you are suggesting. It is pure wisdom, so it is that even when you cannot remember the name of the lady you heard it from, you Do know it works. Today, when I was washing dishes before cooking lunch :), I was looking for that good feeling place. I knew I was close to feel completely well. Trusting my inner guidance, I started singing while washing the dishes. And guess what?, two little birds, not two often visitors by the window in my kitchen, came. I can tell you I felt how resistance free they are, so I confirmed I was doing the right thing: looking for a good feeling place where like animals, not to offer resistance; how awesome, don’t you think.

Love your observations about your cat. 🙂

Thanks for sharing it and reminding us about it.

    Much love!
